Madama Butterfly - Week Two

Behind-the-Scenes Rehearsal Photos by Katharine Elliott. Learn more about Madama Butterfly.

Soprano Ermonela Jaho and tenor Roger Honeywell are reunited on the
Academy of Music stage after their heart-wrenching portrayals of
Mimì and Rodolfo in the 2006 production of La bohème

From left to right, baritone Elliot Madore, in his Opera Company
debut as Prince Yamadori, soprano Ermonela Jaho as Cio-Cio San,
and tenor David Portillo, and the marriage broker Goro.  After
years of waiting for Pinkerton’s return, Goro has brought Prince
Yamadori to Butterfly as a potential husband.  Butterfly refuses,
however, saying that she is not available for marriage and
that her American husband will return.

Baritone Troy Cook (Marcello, La bohème, 2006) returns to OCP as Sharpless, the American consul.  He brings Butterfly,
soprano Ermonela Jaho, a letter from Pinkerton with news that he may never return.  When she shows Sharpless
their child, he promises to tell Pinkerton that he his a father.
