This season, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary and the company’s ongoing commitment to emerging talent, Opera Philadelphia is strengthening its mission of cultivating future stars through the formation of an Emerging Artists Program. Soprano Rachel Sterrenberg, recent graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, makes her professional and role debut as Chan Parker in the World Premiere of Charlie Parker's YARDBIRD as part of the Emerging Artist Program. 

Rachel is no stranger to the Opera Philadelphia stage, having performed in several Curtis Opera Theatre co-productions, such as Dialogues of the Carmelites and Owen Wingrave. She has also performed in several company recitals and was involved in Jennifer Higdon's Cold Mountain workshop in 2013 held at the Curtis Institute of Music.
