Philadelphia, PA
All ticket holders for The Black Clown are invited to a pre-show talk that will enhance your opera experience.
Wilma Hot House company member and Otto Haas Award finalist Anthony Martinez-Briggs will read the Langston Hughes poem "The Black Clown," which serves as the text for the opera. Opera Philadelphia Scholar in Residence Dr. Lily Kass and Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon will then discuss the poem and the opera, illuminating themes and drawing connections to timely topics that resonate today. Whether you're new to opera or a seasoned attendee, these lectures offer valuable insights to deepen your appreciation of every production you attend this season.
The pre-show conversation will start one hour before curtain in the Miller Theater (Orchestra Left).
