Telling Cold Mountain: A Film Screening and Panel

In anticipation of the East Coast Premiere of Cold Mountain, the new opera by Jennifer Higdon and Gene Scheer, the Philadelphia Film Society and Opera Philadelphia are proud to present a screening of the award-winning 2003 film starring Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, and Renée Zellweger. The film will be followed by a panel of music, literary and film experts discussing the translation of one story across three different media.

Panelists include Jennifer Higdon, the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer of Cold Mountain; Mikael Eliasen, Artistic Director of the Curtis Opera Theatre; William Horberg, Cold Mountain film producer; and Paula Marantz Cohen, Distinguished Professor of English at Drexel University. Michael Bolton, Opera Philadelphia’s Vice President of Community Programs, will moderate.
